Dragon Boat Racing Events Details of Dragon Boat events in the Central Region (i.e. Southern North Island) will be published in the CRDBA Google Calendar as they become available. Depending on venue availability, CRDBA will hold the Central Region Championships at Henley Lake - Masterton in November or Wellington anniversary weekend each year. In 2018 NZDBA confirmed this as a sanctioned event thus members of CRDBA or other RSOs that compete in the Central Region Dragon Boat Championships qualify for NZDBA National Championships.
Central Region Dragon Boat Championships The 2023/2024 Central Region Dragon Boat Championships will be held at Henley Lake on Saturday 28 October 2023. Contact [email protected] PH: 0275682563 for further infromation Wellington Dragon Boat Festival The other major event in the region is the Wellington Dragon Boat Festival will be held 1-4 March 2024. The venue is held right next to the Wellington CBD. It is is New Zealand's best attended dragon boat festival with large numbers of spectators lining the waterfront watching local and out of town teams compete. In 2024, New Zealand Secondary Schools National Dragon Boat Championships will also be held in conjunction with the Wellington Dragon Boat Festival. 2024 Harbour Fun Day will be on 10 February. Less formal racing, but equally exciting especially as since 2022 Masters Racing became part of the event and is likely to return in future years. NZDBA Nationals 5-6 April 2024 at Lake Karapiro.
